Shame shame shame

AI Highlights
  • - Cruise is non-refundable and proceeding.
  • - Daughter is 2 years 10 months old and cannot join Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

To Whom It May Concern,

Let me be crystal clear from the outset: the cruise is proceeding. It is non-refundable, and we will be onboard.

It will also be the last dollar my family ever gives to Disney.

Disney Cruise Lines refusal to allow my daughter to participate in Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiquebecause she will be 2 years and 10 months old instead of 3is one of the most rigid, tone-deaf, and brand-damaging decisions I have ever experienced as a customer.

This is not a minor activity to us, and it is certainly not a minor activity to her.

The boutique is the magic.

It is the moment. It is the experience little girls talk about, anticipate, and remember. My daughter understands exactly what Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is. She talks about it.

She asks about it. She knows what it means to get princess-ready. She is excited for it in a way only a child can bepure, joyful, and completely sincere.

She is advanced for her age, holds full conversations, follows instructions, and engages socially at a level closer to a 3.54-year-old. She listens, responds, and behaves with maturity well beyond her years.

There is absolutely nothing about her development, attention, or behavior that would make her unsuitable for a supervised, seated, non-hazardous experience like this.

Eight weeks. That is the difference Disney decided mattered more than a childs excitement and a familys once-in-a-lifetime memory.

This is not about safety. This is not about capability. This is about a corporate rule enforced without judgment, discretion, or humanity.

Pretending that a child is magically unqualified at 2 years and 10 months but suddenly ready at 3 is absurd.

This was our first Disney cruise and was intended to be the start of many. We planned to place a deposit for another cruise while onboard. That will not happen.

Beyond the cruise, Disney has now lost: A planned Florida Disney Parks trip this year for eight family members A second Disney Parks trip next year with extended family Any future cruises, resorts, park visits, or merchandise purchases

That loss is entirely self-inflicted.

Since the cruise is proceeding, understand this clearly: we will be visiting Guest Services onboard, and we will escalate this issue repeatedly until it is addressed by someone with actual authority. Not scripted apologies.

Not policy recitations.

Leadership.

Additionally, this experience will be documented publiclythrough the BBB, consumer complaint platforms, cruise review sites, and social channelsaccurately and persistently.

Disney built its reputation on magic, imagination, and family memories. What you delivered instead was rigidity, indifference, and a complete failure to act like a premium family brand.

Shame on Disney for choosing policy over peopleand for disappointing a child over eight weeks.

Pros:
  • Lol
Cons:
  • Age discrimination against my daughter who is 8 weeks shy of 3

Preferred solution: Make it right

User's recommendation: Stay away

So here's the thing. "Scripted replies", " reciting policies/terms of service" is the universal industry standard for CSRs.

Why? Because for those that think the rules don't apply/want exceptions, you would debate any statement made off-script by the csr.

THEN you have the "gotcha" moment you are looking for to invoke the rudeness complaint. You are not special and the rules apply to everyone.

Guest

Disney will not make an exemption for your child. You can complain to guest services every single day, they will just eventually ban you for being a pain in their *** Knowing the required age is 3, why did you book a cruise while your child is still 2?

Why not wait until she’s 3 so she can get the experience she wanted? This is all on you.

Guest

By now, you must know that no one cares and that you and your brood will NOT be missed. Stay wherever it is that you come from and use your perceived clout there.

I feel bad for the 2 year old who has a banal and lame "man" as a father.

She will do well in life. Sarcasm.

Guest

Whether you like it or not, scripted apologies and policy recitations are in place for a reason. The csr's aren't trained nor should they be allowed to debate a customer who believes they deserve an exception. The terms/age requirement was in place BEFORE you booked/paid.

To call Disney Magic Entertainment Manager

AI Highlights
  • - I wanted to speak with Disney Magic's entertainment team; my son is a dancer on board, but customer service couldn't connect after three tries.

I wanted to SPEAK with ANYONE on board the Disney Magic that was from the entertainment department. My son is a dancer on the Disney Magic and I am flying from Australia to surprise him and I'm doing the 4 night Halloween cruise from the 16th to 20th September 2024.

The customer service person that I called wouldn't put me through to anyone on board the Disney Magic.

This is the 3rd time I have tried to get through. What if it was an EMERGENCY and it was imperative that a crew member be contacted.

I don't even want to go on he cruise now as I am disgusted in the treatment of the Disney Magic to it's paying passengers. I will be putting in a formal complaint.

Preferred solution: To speak to someone on the Disney Magic before September 16th 2024.

  • - Disney double charged my account; refund promised in 48 hours, but after 72 hours it's still not back, and we're told to leave ship with no money.
Contains 1 confidential file for company representatives

Disney double build my bank account leaving me with no money. When I brought this to their attention on the second day of the cruise, they said the money would be back in my account within 48 hours.

Were 72 hours into it and the money is still not in my account and they want me and my family to leave the ship. They said itll be another 4 to 5 days till the money is back in my account and theres nothing theyre willing to do for us. I cannot afford a hotel for my family anymore and our flight is in two days. I have a family member who lives 30 minutes away who is willing to let us stay with them , but they will not provide a taxi for us to get there.

Customer Service just have a family member pay for it. And now theyre telling me that I need to get my family off the ships so they can load up more people.

Theyre kicking my family to the curb with no place to go or stay and no money. Go Disney were they steal from you and tell you to kick rocks.

User's recommendation: If you choose to do business with Disney, keep an eye on the bill they will steal from you

Protection Insurance Mis-Information

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Two reservations were booked for a FAMILY; one person paid all charges.
  • - Insurance treated reservations as separate travelers, not a single FAMILY.

Shoreside Guest Services

The purpose of this email is to hopefully force Disney Cruise Lines to change the way it handles providing wrong information, to guests, when booking Cruise Plans. It is very clear to see that our two reservations were for our FAMILY.

One person (myself) paid for all parties, reservations were linked, we were celebrating both a birthday and halloween. Our FAMILY celebration was to continue to Fort Wilderness the day after we returned (with no Protection Insurance - we made the trip and enjoyed the fort and its activities). It was explained to me, that we needed to have two reservations to accommodate our FAMILY as the rooms only allowed for 4/5 per room. It was explained to me, via your reservation line, that the reservations were linked, we were having dinner together, and all current charges and future charges were paid my a single person.

We had a FAMILY Vacation Planned.

Unfortunately, I (the person who made the reservations, who was mislead, and paid for both reservations) lost my job (my claim under 1 of the reservations was approved by the Insurance Company). Simply because we had two reservations (with Travel Insurance) we were not a FAMILY traveling together in the eyes of the Insurance Protection we purchased. The policy states that you or your Traveling Companion involuntary Employment Termination of Layoff is considered a Covered Event

When booking the reservation, the Disney agent never made the distinction between a FAMILY MEMBER or a TRAVELING COMPANION when discussing the insurance. We can prove this as we are going to ask for a recording of our telephone conversation with both DISNEY and AON Insurance.

Yes, shame on me for not reading the entire Insurance Policy (you learn from your mistakes) however any party traveling with more then 4 sometimes 5 family members, 1) need two or more reservations (DISNEY rule) and 2) who purchase the Insurance would never be fully covered in the event under OTHER COVERED EVENTS.

This information should be shared while making reservations and offering/selling Protection Insurance.

We are going to file a complaint with the State of Florida Secretary of Insurance as the sales process is very misleading. Yes, we were offered the 75% minimum credits for another cruise, for those FAMILY Members on the 2nd Reservation, but honestly when the supporting FAMILY Member loses his job, it is just TERRIBLE that the FAMILY Members on the 2nd Reservation are being forced to travel as DISNEY does not allow for FAMILY Members to all share one reservation number and be equally protected.

Loss:
$6800
Pros:
  • Great service
Cons:
  • Misleading information during reservation process

Preferred solution: Full refund

If there were two reservations on paper due to the 4/5 limit on room occupancy, then two trip insurance policies were needed. Otherwise 50 people in a family could theoretically be covered under one single policy.

I think they did have a travel insurance policy for each reservation. The problem is the OP’s use of the word family is nowhere to be found in the cruise line’s policy. Thus, the OP and only his traveling companion/s on his reservation are covered.

I need to add my card onto the account, and I can't find the god-damn link on the site for adding my card. Put it in the ACCOUNT link, where it belongs. And your website kept crashing.

Preferred solution: Fix the website and make it easier for people to add their payment cards for shopping on the cruise.

  • - Platinum welcome-back cooler not received.
  • - No welcome back gift on this cruise.
  • - New Year's gifts not provided; cups stolen; replacements unavailable.
Original review updated Jan 20, 2023

As platinum members we did not receive the platinum welcome back cooler.

Each level gets a welcome back gift. We did not get one.

Also, they used to leave a gift in your bed on the New Years cruise( this cruise Costs double) as the other cruises through out the year. No New Years hats as In past.

Our New Years cups were stolen on deck, we asked for replacement and they said they had none.

Disney cruise has cut so many of the things that made us want to come back.

The most disturbing thing what we pay for this special time of the year, cruise.

Very disappointed. I tried to reach out on January 7th to Disney cruise with no response.

As a repeat 25 year returning customer of Disney, Disney cruise, aulani Im disheartened to have to write this.
