The purpose of this email is to hopefully force Disney Cruise Lines to change the way it handles providing wrong information, to guests, when booking Cruise Plans. It is very clear to see that our two reservations were for our FAMILY.
One person (myself) paid for all parties, reservations were linked, we were celebrating both a birthday and halloween. Our FAMILY celebration was to continue to Fort Wilderness the day after we returned (with no Protection Insurance - we made the trip and enjoyed the fort and its activities). It was explained to me, that we needed to have two reservations to accommodate our FAMILY as the rooms only allowed for 4/5 per room. It was explained to me, via your reservation line, that the reservations were linked, we were having dinner together, and all current charges and future charges were paid my a single person.
We had a FAMILY Vacation Planned.
Unfortunately, I (the person who made the reservations, who was mislead, and paid for both reservations) lost my job (my claim under 1 of the reservations was approved by the Insurance Company). Simply because we had two reservations (with Travel Insurance) we were not a FAMILY traveling together in the eyes of the Insurance Protection we purchased. The policy states that you or your Traveling Companion involuntary Employment Termination of Layoff is considered a Covered Event
When booking the reservation, the Disney agent never made the distinction between a FAMILY MEMBER or a TRAVELING COMPANION when discussing the insurance. We can prove this as we are going to ask for a recording of our telephone conversation with both DISNEY and AON Insurance.
Yes, shame on me for not reading the entire Insurance Policy (you learn from your mistakes) however any party traveling with more then 4 sometimes 5 family members, 1) need two or more reservations (DISNEY rule) and 2) who purchase the Insurance would never be fully covered in the event under OTHER COVERED EVENTS.
This information should be shared while making reservations and offering/selling Protection Insurance.
We are going to file a complaint with the State of Florida Secretary of Insurance as the sales process is very misleading. Yes, we were offered the 75% minimum credits for another cruise, for those FAMILY Members on the 2nd Reservation, but honestly when the supporting FAMILY Member loses his job, it is just TERRIBLE that the FAMILY Members on the 2nd Reservation are being forced to travel as DISNEY does not allow for FAMILY Members to all share one reservation number and be equally protected.

As platinum members we did not receive the platinum welcome back cooler.
Each level gets a welcome back gift. We did not get one.
Also, they used to leave a gift in your bed on the New Years cruise( this cruise Costs double) as the other cruises through out the year. No New Years hats as In past.
Our New Years cups were stolen on deck, we asked for replacement and they said they had none.
Disney cruise has cut so many of the things that made us want to come back.
The most disturbing thing what we pay for this special time of the year, cruise.
Very disappointed. I tried to reach out on January 7th to Disney cruise with no response.
As a repeat 25 year returning customer of Disney, Disney cruise, aulani Im disheartened to have to write this.

has anyone noticed how Disney has more than doubled their cost for cruises.
When asked to explain the big difference you really get no answer.
It has more than doubled, which this company is suppose to be for familes, but with their cost increases, not only is the cruise but the theme park as well is getting out of hand. Most familes can not afford these new prices.

Prior to boarding my family was tested by a contract company of Disney. Upon arriving to the port we were dropped off by a shuttle which was coordinated by our travel agent.
Upon arrival we were early so were isolated outside told to wait and they would get us in at our appointment time. Upon being allowed to travel to the tent area which resembles the movie outbreak we were told to go into the initial contact tent. Upon going into this tent we were provided 5 test bags with 5 test tube kits located within the bags. This experience was marginal as the technician did not explain the process very well and we swabbed our own nasal areas.
After this we were told to go to tent A. Before arriving to tent A a Disney employee approached us and asked where are you going? We explained to tent A. This employee stated what is your name and stand right here and dont move.
She got on a radio and said our name and then intelligibly said something else. After a short time she said yes go to tent A. After entering this tent we waited for a short period and received an email clearing 4 of the 5 members of my family. At this point the attendant at the tent stated go to the tent at the end of the which we were told was tent E.
After walking out the door of the tent we were walking to the tent that we were directed to and we were approached quickly and aggressively by a family employee of Disney stating STOP, where are you going? I stated that we were told to go to the tent at the end. She said STOP where you are and dont move. What is your name.
. We replied with that information and she said dont move or go anywhere. She got on her radio then after a short time said ok you are clear to go to the end tent. We entered the end tent and were told to go sit down near the end of the tent in 5 chairs provided there.
At this poi t we have no idea what is going on and a nurse with inspire approaches our 10 year old daughter and says do you know what you have done? My wife hearing this was immediately enraged since we had taken all precautions and had our whole family vaccinated for Covid 19 in 2020 anticipating that we would be taking this trip not to mention that we had two other children sitting there excited beyond belief that they were going to take a trip that they had receive for Christmas. But that wasnt the end of it. After my wife told the nurse to direct any questions or comments to her.
We were told that we could not get on the boat and asked how were we leaving. Also we asked since it was a rapid PCR test and she was vaccinated could she re test. The answer was an emphatic NO, these are mot rapid tests and the CDC does not allow for a retest. At this time we were processing that we had been denied boarding and were 700 miles from home.
The next question was what does your luggage look like. (You are kidding me it has our name and room number on it and they probably look like the other suitcases that you took from the other passengers not to speak of the tags that Disney requested we put on the suitcases so that they would know where they go and whos they were). The original nurse then leaves not to return and another nurse comes over and states how are you leaving and you how quickly. We were speechless.
And then after walking half way to the front of the tent she yells back to us do you want a refund? At this time my wife and I were just thinking wow wish we would have never booked this vacation. We would have been better off going to the local fair when it comes to town and rains. At any rate the next nurse which I do have her name said we can provide transportation to the airport.
We said yes we need transportation as we are not residents of Florida and arrived to the dock on a shuttle. After about 45 minutes we were escorted to a Disney cruise bus, without our luggage and said here is your ride. It we didnt have any luggage. A few minutes later a Disney employee rode up on a golf cart with one suitcase on the cart.
It was missing the rest and then again they said what do your suitcases look like? By this time I am beyond mad and I am making notes as to the nurse who is over speaking to 3 other Disney employees and laughing. Now I did not hear what this was about but the appearance was frustrating. Finally the cart returned with our luggage and we were transported 5 people on a Disney bus in complete silence.
Upon arrival to airport the driver exited the bus got our bags out from under the bus and returned to the drivers seat without a word and left.
So I am left speechless without an explanation for my children who think Disney is the happiest place on earth and now they have done something wrong given a Scarlett letter and isolated like prisoners. The refund will never make up for how my children feels about Christmas of 2021 and the Disney cruise that they got to the ship and asked do you know what you have done???

If there were two reservations on paper due to the 4/5 limit on room occupancy, then two trip insurance policies were needed. Otherwise 50 people in a family could theoretically be covered under one single policy.
I think they did have a travel insurance policy for each reservation. The problem is the OP’s use of the word family is nowhere to be found in the cruise line’s policy. Thus, the OP and only his traveling companion/s on his reservation are covered.
